I’ve been wanting to make ancestral marshmallows for a while now and most recently, my cousin Kate came to visit and we experimented with using liquid biocell to create delicious ancestral version without any chemicals. While we were doing this, we found LMNT Chocolate salt in my pantry and decided to make hot chocolate shooters. It was a hit!

Check out the recipe below:

Biocell Marshmallows

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. 1. Pour ½ cup water into a large bowl
  2. 2. Sprinkle gelatin in a thin layer over the water and allow it to bloom
  3. 3. On the stove in a pot stir together ½ cup water and maple syrup at low heat. About 4-5 minutes
  4. 4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and liquid biocell collagen
  5. 5. Pour syrup mixture into your large bowl of bloomed gelatin (its OK if your gelatin harden, the warm syrup mixture will dissolve it)
  6. 6. Using an electric mixer on high speed, whip your marshmallows until the mixture thickens up to coat the back of a spoon. (It should be like melted marshmallow consistency)
  7. 7. Pour into a glass baking dish and let it harder for at least 2 hours but ideally overnight
  8. 8. When you’re ready to eat, cut into squares or grab a spoon and dig in!
