Fort Worth, Texas, is a city rich in history, culture, and charm. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting this vibrant city for a very brief trip for work, but despite the short duration, it was packed with memorable experiences.
Exploring the Stockyards
As soon as we got in, we changed our clothes and headed to the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards. Stepping into the Stockyards felt like traveling back in time to the Old West. The highlight of our visit was witnessing the famous cattle drive, where real cowhands drove a herd of Texas longhorns down Exchange Avenue. It was a spectacular sight and a true testament to Fort Worth’s rich ranching history.

I wore my favorite cowboy boots, the powder blue ones, which were a gift from family and found an amazing scarf to match!

Dining at Bowie House
After our time at the Stockyards, we headed to the Bowie House by Auberge for dinner. Known for its hearty and carnivore-friendly menu, Bowie House did not disappoint. The dishes were perfectly in line with my dietary preferences: NO SEED OILS. The steaks were from the 6666 ranch and the quality of the meat was exceptional. Each dish was prepared with care, highlighting the flavors of high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients. We got the bone in ribeye and the picanha, which was a special. We also got the house made sourdough with cultured butter and flaked salt, which was out of this world.

The next morning, I met my friend Taylor for coffee (check out her profile @candidcommunion and @candid_dating!) and the latte was out of this world. After meeting, I stayed around to work in the lobby for 2 hours because it was so beautiful. To make it an even smaller world, the woman who helped us at the restaurant (named Ashley) is from my hometown and we had a lot of mutuals!

Strolling Through Downtown
After spending some time at the Bowie House, I decided to briefly stroll through downtown Fort Worth since I had a little time. The area is a blend of historic and modern, with beautifully preserved buildings standing alongside contemporary shops and cafes. The atmosphere was lively, yet relaxed, and it was a joy to simply walk around and take in the sights and sounds of the city. I was starting to get tired, but wanted to see the cathedral and say a prayer, so I made my way to St Patrick Cathedral.
Visiting St. Patrick Cathedral
When I arrived at the cathedral, all of the doors were closed except 1. It turned out that there was a funeral happening and the security said I could stay in the back during the funeral mass to pray. I decided to stay for the whole thing, and it was truly a beautiful experience.
After the funeral was over, I had 10 minutes to look around the cathedral before I made my way back to the Crescent Hotel. It is an architectural gem with beautiful stained glass windows and intricate details and all of my favorite depictions of Jesus and the saints.
Staying at the Crescent Hotel
Our accommodation for the trip was the Crescent Hotel, which EXCEEDED our expectations like you would not believe. When we arrived, we did not realize that we had booked such a classy and artsy hotel. The hotel’s ambiance and impeccable service made our stay extremely comfortable. Our room was huge, clean, and beautifully decorated, providing a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring and working long hours.
Burgundy’s Local Grass Fed Meat Butcher
Finally, to end the day, I was sitting in the hotel room and decided to just search ‘local beef’ into my maps search bar on my phone. To my surprise, Burgundy’s Local was located JUST behind the Crescent Hotel, so I decided to change into casual clothes and make my way over. I am SO GLAD I DID! I ended up spending a whole hour there, speaking with Jace who was working the counter. After viewing all of the amazing meats, cheese, eggs and dairy, I had a conversation with Jace about the carnivore lifestyle.

Jace has been carnivore for 6 years now, only eating meat from Burgundy’s. He mentioned that his inspiration to try this was Mikhaila Peterson (founder of The Lion Diet), Jordan Peterson, and Dr. Shawn Baker (Author of the Carnivore Diet).
In the last 6 years, he has lost 160+ pounds, got himself out of a wheelchair, put his MS symptoms into remission, and ran 70 miles this year in 15 hours. I thought he was exaggerating until he showed me the fitness app on his phone. These are not medical claims, but he told me he believes that this lifestyle fixed all of his issues, and forever changed his life based on the previous path he was on.
I walked into Burgundy’s just to see what they had, not expecting to purchase anything because of our work schedule. I ended up leaving with 2 blocks of amazing raw cheese, raw honey sticks and local grass fed jerky, which helped sustain us through the events we were working.
Jace also shared with me the best Fort Worth raw dairy source, which you can find below.
Burgundy’s has 2 locations: Dallas and Fort Worth. If you are close to either of them, you must check them out and purchase your meat from them. If I were local to the area, that’s what I would do!

Working the Event
The main reason for our visit to Fort Worth was to work an event, which took up a significant portion of our time. While the event kept us busy, it was an excellent opportunity to engage with new people and enjoy the professional atmosphere.
The Final Night
The final night of the event, we hosted some of the staff in our hotel lobby for happy hour. Since I no longer drink (very rarely), I always love to find a place with delicious mocktails to enjoy. The Crescent Hotel lobby bar had arguably one of the most AMAZING mocktails i have ever had, with zero proof liquor.
Reflections on Fort Worth
Even though our trip to Fort Worth was brief, it was filled with really cool experiences that we enjoyed. From the historical allure of the Stockyards and the culinary delights of Bowie House to the serene beauty of St. Patrick Cathedral and the elegance of the Crescent Hotel, Fort Worth offered a wonderful blend of activities and sights. It’s a city that beautifully balances its rich heritage with modern vibrancy, making it a fantastic destination for both leisure and work.
I look forward to returning to Fort Worth in the future, hopefully for a longer stay, to explore even more of what this incredible city has to offer.
